Daddy told me when I was young
That Christmas is haram.
My mother told me that as a Muslim,
Christmas is not the season to be jolly.
I never understood why
When I was a child;
I saw the turkeys on the TV,
Watched the kids run in the snow,
A Christmas tree with a mistletoe,
And some surprises down below.
I never truly understood why
When I was young
But I do know it now.
My parents were not anti-Christ
But they were just over-reacting.
Pardon my parents
for their misconception,
They were just doing their job
But I do know the meaning now,
The best Christmas I never had.
