The Best Christmas I Never Had

Daddy told me when I was young
That Christmas is haram.
My mother told me that as a Muslim,
Christmas is not the season to be jolly.

I never understood why
When I was a child;
I saw the turkeys on the TV,
Watched the kids run in the snow,
A Christmas tree with a mistletoe,
And some surprises down below.

I never truly understood why
When I was young
But I do know it now.
My parents were not anti-Christ
But they were just over-reacting.

Pardon my parents
for their misconception,
They were just doing their job
But I do know the meaning now,
The best Christmas I never had.

To the Virgins, To Make Much of Time

by: Robert Herrick

GATHER ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he’s a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he’s to setting.
That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer,
But being spent, the worse, and worst,
Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,
And while ye may go marry:
For having lost but once your prime
You may for ever tarry.

Sun,
Big, bulky,
Burning, blazing, blistering,
Day, night, tears, drizzle,
Frosting, chilling, freezing,
Icy cold,
Rain.

Home, habitat, dreams, destiny,
Considering, thinking, contemplating,
Near, close,
South.

Crowding Cloud

Dark clouds are looming,
But they can never overshadow the beauty
Of rippling waters deep in seclusion,
Or greenish colours of nature's temptation.

Dark clouds are blooming
But they are not as beautiful as black roses
Perching on the stems waiting to be picked.
These dark clouds are telling something,
Of disappointment and terrible news.

Dark clouds are approaching
But there is nothing we can do to stop them.
Take your clothes in get your umbrellas ready,
Because this crowding cloud seem unforgiving.

Black Cotton Candy

The sky is in mourning today.
Perhaps it is the burden
It has been carrying for days.

Thick black cotton candy
That does not look so happy,
Troubled maybe, with the chance
Of a heavy downpour in the evening.

I shall not get out of bed
And get wet today.
I should get undress
And just lie down on my back.

The Rambutan

When I think of a rambutan,
I can see the hairy red colored fruit on the trees,
I can smell the fresh green leaves and white flesh,
I can feel the shape, almost rounded, almost perfect,
I can taste that shade of happiness inside my mouth,
My dear rambutan, my seasonal rambutan.

The Durian

When I think of a durian,
I can see the thorny King of Fruits hanging proud,
I can smell its sweet freshness in the air,
I can feel its soft yellowish flesh,
I can taste the happiness in my stomach,
My dear durian, my favorite of all.

The Frown Clown

I wish I was a clown.
I wish I had no frown.
I wish I could not turn people down,
And make this place a better town.

The Pencil

I wish I was a pencil.
I wish I had traveled the papers.
I wish I could help write a chapter.
And be the bestseller of the year.
